About the Client

Our client is a fintech company operating a cross-border remittance platform that enables consumers to send money internationally across multiple corridors in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia. The company operates under money transmission licenses in the United States and is actively expanding into new markets, including pursuing regulatory approvals in receiving countries.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Compliance Analyst to support the day-to-day execution of the client’s compliance program. This role sits within the compliance function for the client with direct and indirect reporting relationships to the parent company’s compliance function. You will be responsible for operationalizing the company’s BSA/AML, sanctions, customer due diligence, and payout partner (Know Your Agent) compliance frameworks.

This is an operational role with analytical depth. You will review transactions, conduct due diligence assessments, prepare regulatory filings, and support audit and examination readiness. As the company expands into new corridors and integrates new payment methods, the compliance workload is growing, and this role is critical to maintaining the company’s regulatory posture at scale.

What You'll Do

Transaction Monitoring and Suspicious Activity

  1. Oversee the company’s automated transaction monitoring system, ensuring rules and thresholds are appropriately calibrated to detect unusual or suspicious activity in accordance with BSA/AML policies and procedures.
  2. Review and investigate alerts generated by the automated transaction monitoring and screening platform, documenting findings, dispositioning false positives with clear rationale, and escalating genuine concerns as appropriate.
  3. Prepare and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and supporting documentation with FinCEN within required timeframes.
  4. Maintain detailed case files and investigation logs for all reviewed alerts and filed reports.

Sanctions and Screening

  • Oversee automated OFAC, PEP, and adverse media screening on customers, payout partners, and counterparties. Validate that screening systems are functioning correctly, review flagged results, and ensure disposition decisions are documented and defensible.
  • Investigate and resolve screening hits, distinguishing true matches from false positives with documented rationale.
  • Monitor updates to OFAC’s SDN list and other sanctions lists, verifying that automated screening systems ingest updates promptly and that retroactive screening is triggered where required.

Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)

  • Oversee the company’s tiered CDD program, ensuring automated identity verification workflows are fully enabled and functioning correctly across all customer risk tiers.
  • Manage EDD workflows for high-risk customers, including cases escalated from automated screening. Ensure enhanced review procedures and risk mitigation measures are applied consistently and documented.
  • Ensure CDD records are complete, accurate, and maintained in compliance with recordkeeping requirements. Support the full enablement of remaining CDD tiers within the automated IDV platform, validating configurations and acceptance criteria for each tier.

Know Your Agent (KYA) / Payout Partner Due Diligence

  • Conduct initial and periodic due diligence assessments on payout partners.
  • Evaluate payout partner AML programs, licensing status, ownership structures, and operational controls.
  • Track KYA review schedules and ensure all partner assessments are current, with risk ratings updated as needed.
  • Flag material changes in payout partner risk profiles (ownership changes, regulatory actions, adverse media) and recommend appropriate responses.

Regulatory Reporting and Recordkeeping

  • Support the preparation of compliance reports for management, the board, and regulatory examiners.
  • Maintain organized compliance records, including policies, procedures, training logs, investigation files, and audit trails.
  • Track and report on key compliance metrics (SAR filing volumes, screening hit rates, CDD completion rates, KYA review status).

Audit, Examination, and Program Support

  • Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and tracking remediation items.
  • Assist in updating compliance policies and procedures as regulations evolve or as the business enters new corridors or adopts new payment methods.
  • Support the rollout of compliance training programs and maintain training completion records.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, including BSA/AML risk assessments and corridor-specific risk evaluations for new market entries.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 3–6 years of compliance experience in financial services, fintech, money transmission, or payments.
  2. Direct experience with BSA/AML compliance operations, including transaction monitoring, SAR preparation and filing, and sanctions screening.
  3. Working knowledge of FinCEN regulations, OFAC sanctions programs, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the Remittance Transfer Rule (Regulation E, Subpart B).
  4. Experience conducting customer due diligence (CDD/EDD) and third-party or agent due diligence reviews.
  5. Familiarity with automated compliance platforms (transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, fraud detection) and the ability to evaluate whether system rules and configurations are producing appropriate results.
  6. Strong analytical and investigative skills with meticulous attention to detail and documentation.
  7. Ability to interpret regulatory guidance and translate it into operational procedures.
  8. Excellent written English communication skills, particularly for regulatory filings, investigation narratives, and policy documentation.
  9. Self-directed and organized: ability to manage multiple review queues, deadlines, and regulatory filing timelines independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification or equivalent.
  2. Experience in cross-border remittance or money transfer operations, particularly in African, Caribbean, or Latin American corridors.
  3. Exposure to cryptocurrency or stablecoin compliance frameworks (e.g., FinCEN guidance on convertible virtual currencies, travel rule requirements).
  4. Experience supporting regulatory examinations by state regulators (e.g., NMLS multi-state exams) or federal examiners.
  5. Knowledge of international AML frameworks and receiving-country regulatory requirements (e.g., Bank of Ghana IMTO regulations).
  6. Experience working with automated identity verification platforms (e.g., Onfido, Jumio, Persona) in an oversight capacity.
  7. Familiarity with payout partner / agent supervision requirements under state and federal money transmission regulations.

Additional Information

Working Arrangement

  1. Location: Remote (Ghana-based preferred; GMT/GMT+0 time zone required).
  2. Engagement type: Full-time contract via Terydin (employer of record).
  3. Tools: Compliance case management systems, screening platforms, Slack, Jira/Confluence (for cross-functional coordination), and standard productivity tools.

What Success Looks Like

First 30 Days:

  • Complete onboarding: review all existing compliance policies, understand the company’s compliance program structure, and map active payout partner relationships.
  • Shadow the current compliance workflow: understand how the automated monitoring and screening platform is configured, review existing alert queues, SAR filing processes, and KYA review cycles.
  • Conduct an initial inventory of outstanding compliance tasks, upcoming KYA renewals, and any open audit or examination items.

First 90 Days:

  • Independently manage the review and disposition of alerts from the automated monitoring and screening platform, and own the SAR filing process end to end.
  • Complete at least one full cycle of KYA due diligence reviews across existing payout partners.
  • Produce a compliance dashboard or tracker showing key metrics (SAR volumes, screening results, CDD/KYA status) for management reporting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate as the day-to-day compliance execution layer, freeing the CCO/BSA Officer to focus on strategic and regulatory matters.

How to Apply

Qualified candidates should submit their CV/resume along with a shareable loom video addressing the following: (1) your hands-on experience with BSA/AML compliance operations (transaction monitoring, SAR filing, sanctions screening), (2) any experience with cross-border payments or money transmission compliance, and (3) your familiarity with payout partner or third-party due diligence programs.
