About the Role
About the Client
Our client is a fintech company operating a cross-border remittance platform that serves multiple international corridors across Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia. The platform enables consumers to send money internationally through digital channels, with a growing infrastructure spanning payment processing, stablecoin settlement, identity verification, and fraud prevention.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to own the end-to-end product development lifecycle for the client’s remittance platform. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. You will serve as the primary bridge between business leadership and an external development firm, translating commercial strategy into clear requirements and deliverables, managing the product backlog, and ensuring the dev partner delivers quality work on time and to spec across multiple concurrent workstreams.
You will report directly to the client’s COO and will collaborate closely with internal subject matter experts on compliance, partnerships, and growth strategy. This is not a strategy-only role; you will be in the details daily, working with engineers, reviewing PRDs, writing acceptance criteria, and ensuring that what ships matches what was intended.
What You'll Do
- Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it is prioritized, well-groomed, and reflects current business objectives.
- Translate business requirements and commercial agreements (e.g., new corridor launches, payout partner integrations, payment processor migrations) into detailed technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Define project milestones, deliverables, and timelines for the external development firm. Establish reporting cadences, review checkpoints, and acceptance criteria to ensure output quality and alignment with requirements.
- Manage the product roadmap across multiple concurrent initiatives including payment processor integrations, stablecoin settlement infrastructure, UI/UX redesign, identity verification (IDV), and fraud prevention systems.
- Coordinate cross-functional dependencies between engineering, compliance, operations, and business development.
- Conduct QA reviews and sign off on feature releases, ensuring quality and alignment with requirements.
- Proactively identify technical risks, blockers, and scope creep; escalate and resolve issues before they impact delivery timelines.
- Produce and maintain product documentation including PRDs, technical specs, process flows, and release notes.
- Monitor product KPIs and use data to inform prioritization decisions and feature iterations.
- Manage the ongoing relationship with the external development firm, ensuring accountability, delivery quality, and clear communication across time zones.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4–7 years of product management experience, with at least 2 years in fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Demonstrated experience managing external development firms, agencies, or distributed engineering teams.
- Strong technical fluency: comfortable reading API documentation, understanding system architecture diagrams, and engaging in technical discussions with engineers on topics such as RESTful APIs, webhooks, database schemas, and microservices.
- Working knowledge of payment processing flows (pay-in, pay-out, settlement, reconciliation) and the ability to quickly learn new payment rails and instruments.
- Experience writing detailed PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from without ambiguity.
- Proficiency with product management and project tracking tools (Jira, Confluence, or equivalents).
- Experience managing external development vendors or agencies: defining scope, setting delivery expectations, reviewing output, and holding partners accountable to timelines and quality standards.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Self-starter mentality: ability to operate independently with limited supervision, proactively identifying what needs to be done.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cross-border remittance or money transfer platforms.
- Familiarity with stablecoin/cryptocurrency settlement infrastructure (e.g., USDC, blockchain-based payment rails, custodial wallet systems).
- Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g. Claude) to drive efficiency, including developing initial development specs and UI/UX wireframes
- Knowledge of identity verification (IDV) and KYC/KYB workflows, including third-party provider integrations (e.g., Onfido, Jumio, Persona).
- Exposure to fraud detection and prevention systems in a payments context (transaction monitoring, velocity checks, chargeback management).
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations in money transmission (BSA/AML, OFAC, state licensing, Remittance Transfer Rule).
- Experience with payment gateway migrations or processor integrations (e.g., Stripe, Checkout.com, Adyen).
- Familiarity with mobile-first product design and consumer fintech UX patterns.
- Experience working in or with African markets, particularly in payments or technology.
Additional Information
Domain Knowledge: Areas You Will Need to Navigate
You don’t need to be an expert in all of these on day one, but you must have a foundation in payments and the ability to ramp quickly across the following domains:
- Payment processing: pay-in methods (cards, ACH, bank transfers), pay-out methods (mobile money, bank deposits, cash pickup), settlement and reconciliation.
- Stablecoin settlement: blockchain-based treasury and settlement flows, custodial wallet infrastructure, on/off-ramp mechanics.
- Identity verification and KYC: document verification, liveness detection, sanctions screening, PEP checks, ongoing monitoring.
- Fraud and risk: transaction monitoring rules, velocity controls, chargeback management, dispute resolution workflows.
- Compliance infrastructure: how product decisions intersect with BSA/AML obligations, state licensing, and consumer protection regulations.
- Payout partner integrations: API-based integrations with third-party payout networks across multiple countries and payment methods.
Working Arrangement
- Location: Remote (Ghana-based preferred; GMT/GMT+0 time zone required).
- Engagement type: Full-time contract via Terydin (employer of record).
- Tools: Jira, Confluence, Slack, Figma, and standard productivity tools.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 Days:
- Complete onboarding: understand the platform architecture, active corridors, key integrations, and current roadmap.
- Audit and reorganize the existing product backlog.
- Establish a working cadence with the external development firm and client leadership.
First 90 Days:
- Own and drive at least two major initiatives through full delivery cycles.
- Establish a predictable delivery cadence and reporting rhythm with the external development firm.
- Produce a revised product roadmap aligned to business priorities with clear milestones and dependencies.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate independently, escalating strategically rather than routinely.
How to Apply
Qualified candidates should submit their CV/resume along with a shareable loom video addressing the following: (1) your experience managing product delivery with internal delivery or external development firms or distributed teams, (2) your familiarity with payments or fintech product domains, and (3) your approach to ramping into a new product and codebase quickly.
